The sanitary conditions at Makeløs are of the simple kind. You wash with a cloth and soapy water from a tub. The water is fetched from the well and if you need hot water, it must be heated on the stove. The outdoor toilet has almost been eradicated these days, but it has its charm. In the zinc bucket there is wood sprinkle that smells fresh of junipers. Spreading a bit in the toilet after each visit prevents annoying odors and ensure good composting.
